This week has been full of fun! Check it out:
ELA:
Making Meaning: This week we have read Brave Irene. This book is set a long time ago and about a young girl who has to deliver a dress in the blistering snow to a duchess. We have been working on coming up with questions while reading and going back to use the text to answer those questions.
Being A Writer: We are working on our final drafts of our Personal Narratives to contribute to our class book. After Thanksgiving, we will move on to our Fiction unit.
We are currently reading: 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel \ 1 Dog = Chaos
Math:
WE ARE DONE WITH MULTIPLICATION!!! Please continue to work with your child on gaining fluency within their multiplication facts. It is my expectation for all students to have passed their 10s by Winter Break. The majority of our class has passed their 5s! :)
After Thanksgiving, we will move on to division and then telling time.
Congratulations to our newest member of the Multiplication Club!! On to division! :)

Social Studies:
We have been working on the Northeast Region. We have covered land/water, climate, and natural resources. Next week, we will cover landmarks and culture (which tends to be the students' favorite sections!)
Table Topics:
Q: What has been your favorite chapter of 8 Class Pets?
A: hamster, dog, turtle, rat, fish...
Q: Besides your own, what was your favorite costume at the Vocabulary Parade?
A: Answers may vary.
Q: What word stumped you (if any) during the Vocabulary Bee? Do you know the meaning of the word now?

Q: What do you think about the new Character Counts resource and resource teacher?

Vocabulary Bee:
CONGRATULATIONS to our two winners of the Vocabulary Bee! These contestants knew EVERY word on our vocabulary list. I am so proud of them both!!

It has been a great week but I think we're all excited for a nice, restful weekend. Enjoy this time before the holidays! :)
