The title explains it all - we have had a busy and exciting week! I have posted photos at the bottom of the post from all of our shenanigans this week. :)
Here are our educational happenings from this week:
ELA:
Making Meaning: We read the book Alexander, Who's Not (Do You Hear Me? I Mean It!) Going To Move! This is a cute story about a boy named, Alexander, who does not want to move away from his home, school, friends, and neighbors. He eventually has to come to grips with it and begin to have a change of heart. For this story, we have continued learning about character development.
Being A Writer: We have continued writing about Personal Narratives.
We are currently reading: The Year of Billy Miller by: Kevin Henkes
Math:
We have finished working on our 2s and 3s multiplication. We will move on to 4s, 5s, and 6s next week. Please be studying multiplication facts with your child each night.
Social Studies:
We have started learning about the US Regions. This week we have focused on the Southeast region. We have learned about the landforms, water, natural resources, and climate. We will continue to work on the Southeast region next week.
Table Topics:
Q: What was your favorite activity during field day?
A: There were many!
Q: In what ways are you and Billy Miller (from our reading) alike? Different?
A: Billy is a third grade student that is nervous about not being smart enough for third grade. His teacher, Ms. Silver, shows him that he is very bright and makes him feel comfortable in school. His dad is an artist and is very kind to his children. His sister, Sal, is three years old and often bugs Billy. (We have not gotten to Part 4 yet, which is about his mother.)
Q: What was your favorite spirit day this week?
A: PJ Day, sports day, red, white & blue day, etc.

Fund Run:
I tried to get a picture of all the students but it was a tad difficult to get them to pose while running! :)

I hope you enjoyed seeing pictures from our busy week!
Have a great weekend! :)
